Looking for something unique for your weekend? Perhaps it's time to get to know the New Jersey that sometimes gets taken for granted. The Hackensack Riverkeeper organization provides tours of the River and the Meadowlands, giving you a bird's eye view of the environment around us all.  These tours last between two and three hours, and there are several different itineraries available aboard the two specially-rigged pontoon boats.

To board, you'll need to secure a reservation on the Hacksensack Riverkeeper website. If you go on one of these eco-crusies, take pictures and share them with us! And have a great weekend.

A Race to Remember

by Sharon Vallario

If you'd like to see some of the greatest athletes in the world, Saturday is your lucky day. More than 140 miles of swimming, biking and running gets underway at 6:50 am with the 2012 Ironman U.S. Championship. This is the first time this type of competition has been held in the New York metropolitan area! The course begins with the 2.4 mile swim down the Hudson River, followed by a 112-mile bike ride up and back on the Palisades Parkway in Bergen and Rockland Counties. It concludes in the evening with a 26.2-mile run from Fort Lee to Riverside Park in Manhattan.

Unfortunately, parts of the Palisades Parkway will be shut down for most of the day. So, if you'd normally be traveling that route, you'll need to plan another way around.

Get the Led Out

by Sharon Vallario

This Friday, May 18th, Bergen County's Performing Arts Center is where you should be!

Now dubbed by the media as “The American Led Zeppelin,” GTLO presents a two hour + set each night that spans the mythic career of the legendary British supergroup Led Zepplelin. This Englewood performance starts at 8:00PM so make sure you arrive on time!

Tickets are on sale now starting at just $19 and only going up to $39!!!

Get The Led Out is a group of professional musicians who are passionate about their love of the music of Led Zeppelin. It's been their mission to bring the studio recordings of "the mighty Zep" to life on the big concert stage. This is not an impersonator act but rather a group of musicians who were fans first, striving to do justice to one of the greatest bands in rock history!

The critics are raving. The Patriot News, Central Pennsylvania’s leading news source that reaches nearly a half-million weekly readers, heralds, “Get The Led Out didn’t just pass Zeppelin 101 with flying colors - - they’re working on their Ph.D. They didn’t just do their Zep homework — they’re teaching the class.”

Thanks mybergen for the info on this rockin Bergen County event!
